These are questions that we are commonly asked at our office: What types of law do you practice?Patric L. Jones can represent you in most criminal law matters such as misdemeanors and felonies. He can also represent you in many family law cases such as divorce and post-divorce, paternity and child support. We can also help you with a will, power of attorney and probating an estate. If you need an attorney for any other type of case, please ask us; we can refer you to attorneys in other areas of law. What are your fees?Fees can vary depending upon the type of case that you have. For example, most family law cases are billed on an hourly basis and most criminal defense cases are a flat fee (not including costs). Please call to speak to one of the paralegals or set up a consultation to determine the fee for your specific case. What types of payment do you accept?Cash, personal check, cashier check, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Can you guarantee the outcome of my case?No attorney can guarantee the outcome of any case. There are many factors involved in any legal case. Patric L. Jones will do everything possible to achieve the outcome that you desire, but a specific outcome cannot be promised. If I have my criminal record sealed or expunged, does that mean that no one can see my record?Basically, there is a list of entities that can still access your criminal record even after it has been sealed or expunged, but it is very limited. If I am arrested, do I have to speak to the police officers? You should always be as polite as possible to police officers. However, you are not required to give a statement to the police either before or after you are arrested. You have the right to remain silent and to have an attorney be present while you are questioned—at any point after contact with the police. If you do make any statements to the police, those statements may be used against you at a later date in a court of law. What if I am arrested but I am not a U.S. Citizen? It is important to know that your arrest may affect your application for U.S. citizenship. If you are not in the process of applying for U.S. citizenship, being arrested may have other consequences. It is very important to discuss these issues with an attorney.
