Fort Lauderdale Criminal Defense and Family Law FirmThe Law Offices of Patric L. Jones is a law firm that treats our clients like family. Everything about our firm is friendly and approachable, from our office in Fort Lauderdale (which is located in a house about 15 blocks from the main courthouse) to Scotch, our office cat. Family law and criminal defense lawyer Patric Jones is originally from Indiana but has lived in Florida since 1982. He graduated from Stetson University with his Bachelor’s degree with a major in communication studies and theater arts and a minor in political science. He attended two years of graduate school at Florida State University with focus in speech and debate (he was an assistant coach to their debate team) before deciding to attend law school. He began law school at University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. After his first two years, he transferred to Nova Southeastern University Law Center in Davie, Florida, where he graduated in 1997. Patric is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association and the Broward Bar Association. He is also a member of Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. While in law school, Patric was an intern with the Broward County Public Defender’s Office as well as the Federal Public Defender in Broward County. Patric has been in private practice focusing on criminal defense and family law in Broward County since 1997. He trained with his mother-in-law, who is a family law attorney in Coral Springs, and then branched out to open his own office in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Patric has handled a wide variety of criminal law cases, from traffic violations and speeding tickets to first-degree murder. He handles all aspects of family law, from divorce, marital asset division, child custody, child support, and alimony to paternity cases. On occasion, Patric will handle general civil cases as well. Meet Our StaffKate: Kate is Patric’s sister. She has her Bachelor’s degree in sociology from University of Florida. When she first moved to Broward County, she began working with Patric just to help out occasionally, then discovered she really enjoyed the legal field. She has been a full-time legal secretary and paralegal for Patric since March, 2002. Kate mostly works with criminal, traffic, and expungement and record-sealing cases. Debbie: Debbie is Patric’s wife and a podiatrist by training. She has her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Stetson University and her doctorate in podiatric medicine from Barry University. Debbie still sees patients part-time, but has mainly been the office and billing manager and a paralegal for the firm’s family law cases since the end of 2003. Dawn: Dawn is Patric’s sister-in-law. She has been our part-time receptionist and file clerk since June, 2006. Steve: Steve is a certified paralegal who works with our office on an as-needed basis for legal research and in general civil cases. He has his Bachelor’s degree in economics from Duke University. Scotch: Scotch has been our official office cat since July, 2004. He is in charge of client greeting—both in the parking lot and on the couch in the reception area. He’s very sweet and will work for food and treats. Free consultation with a lawyer by phone or in person: To discuss your legal needs with attorney Patric L.
